1973 Brooklyn Fleece Long Sleeves Cycling Kits
- ● Design Origin & Timeline: Brooklyn Chewing Gum, owned by the Perfetti confectionery group, took over sponsorship of the former Dreher squad in 1973 and ran the team through 1977. Riding Gios Torino frames with Campagnolo groupsets, the squad became one of the most iconic teams of 1970s European racing, competing in the Giro d'Italia, Tour de France, and all the cobbled Monuments.
- ● Cycling Culture Behind The Design: 1970s Italian professional cycling was defined by confectionery and beverage sponsors building squads around star Flemish Classics riders. Brooklyn's gum brand brought bold American-style marketing to the peloton, and the simple, blocky sponsor lettering across a solid-coloured torso was a hallmark of the era's direct, high-impact race kits.
- ● Visual Theme: Built on a single solid bright green body with no stripes or paneling, keeping the look clean and highly visible in the peloton. Short sleeves are cut in the same green, finished with thin contrast stitching at the cuffs. The hem is finished in black with a white dotted gripper band.
- ● Brand Markings: A wide white horizontal band across the chest carries "BROOKLYN" in large black serif capitals with "CHEWING GUM" directly beneath. The yellow "MICHELIN" block sits on the upper right chest, and the Le Coq Sportif triangular rooster logo appears on the upper left chest.
- ● Technical Features: Full-length centre-front zipper, classic short-sleeve race cut, and a finished hem with gripper binding. The construction reflects the lightweight, form-fitting race apparel aesthetic of 1970s professional cycling.
- ● Roger De Vlaeminck: The undisputed leader of the Brooklyn squad and one of the greatest Classics riders of all time. Known as "Monsieur Paris-Roubaix," he took three victories at the Hell of the North while on Brooklyn, along with Milan–San Remo, the Tour of Flanders, Giro di Lombardia, and seven Giro d'Italia stage wins in 1975 alone.
- ● Patrick Sercu: Belgian track sprint legend and six-day race specialist who was a key squad member. In 1974 he claimed three Tour de France stage victories and the green points classification jersey, showcasing the team's fast-man depth in both stage races and sprint finishes.

Fabric: The outer protective layer features a waterproof and windproof coating, crucial for resisting harsh weather conditions (cold wind, rain, snow). It effectively blocks cold wind penetration, preventing heat loss. The fabric surface undergoes a durable water-repellent treatment, forming an invisible protective film that easily handles light rain and road splashes; water droplets bead up and roll off, keeping you dry.
- The inner insulating layer innovatively combines high-quality merino wool, effectively locking in body heat even when wet. More importantly, the soft, skin-friendly feel, moisture-wicking properties, and natural antibacterial characteristics of wool ensure you stay dry, warm, and comfortable during long rides, eliminating the cold and sticky feeling common in winter cycling.
