1974 Lejeune Short Sleeves Cycling Kits
- ● Design Origin & Timeline: Lejeune was a French bicycle manufacturer founded in 1947 by twin brothers Roger and Marcel Lejeune. By the early 1970s the company backed a professional team, with Jobo joining as co-sponsor and Campagnolo supplying the groupsets. The Jobo–Lejeune iteration raced through 1974, earning selection to the Tour de France and taking a stage win on the road to Paris.
- ● Cycling Culture Behind The Design: Early 1970s French professional cycling was dotted with small, resourceful national teams built around bicycle makers and local sponsors. These squads punched above their weight in the Tour de France, and their two-tone colour-blocked kits with stacked sponsor wordmarks were a familiar sight along French road races.
- ● Visual Theme: A clean horizontal colour split — bright royal blue covering the upper chest, shoulders and collar, and bold red covering the lower torso, sleeves and cuffs. The design is deliberately simple and high-contrast, with no stripes or additional paneling. The hem is finished in black with a white dotted gripper band.
- ● Brand Markings: Stacked white lettering runs down the centre of the blue chest: "Lejeune" in large bold capitals, "Campagnolo" in flowing script beneath it, and "JOBO" inside a rounded oval outline below that. Small JOBO logos appear on both sleeve cuffs.
- ● Technical Features: Full-length centre-front zipper, classic short-sleeve race cut, and a finished hem with gripper binding. The construction reflects the straightforward, functional race apparel of mid-1970s French professional cycling.
- ● Roger Pingeon: 1967 Tour de France general classification winner, who rode his final professional season for Jobo–Lejeune in 1974. That year he took victory at the Grand Prix de Plumelec, capping a career that also included an overall win at the Vuelta a España.
- ● Francis Campaner: French rider who scored one of the team's most memorable results when he won Stage 19a of the 1974 Tour de France while wearing the Jobo–Lejeune colours.
