This cycling bib shorts is the vintage-styled race kit of the Splendor–Admiral professional cycling team, this Dutch squad was active through the 1979 to 1984 seasons.

● Design Origin & Timeline: Splendor–Admiral was a well-known Dutch professional cycling team competing from 1979 to 1984. Splendor and Admiral acted as dual title sponsors, while TV-Ekspres joined as a key media sponsor. Columbus supplied the team with bicycle frame tubing and Campagnolo delivered premium cycling components. The team paired these red bib shorts with its iconic checkerboard jersey for races in the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and many famous European one-day classics throughout its operating years.

● Cycling Culture Behind The Design: In the early 1980s, professional bib shorts were designed to match team jersey colour schemes to form a unified race kit. Solid red bib shorts were a common match for the team’s red-white-blue jersey, creating a cohesive on-bike visual identity. This matching set was a standard aesthetic choice for European pro squads of this era.
