1. Design Details & Key Elements
- Main Visual & Sponsor: Featuring a bright blue base, the chest prominently displays the large white American Express (Amex) logo, a classic visual signature of the brand; the sleeves and shoulders use a blue-and-white color-block design, with gray accents on the sides, restoring the iconic color style of American professional cycling teams.
- Equipment Partner Brands: Trek (Trek Bicycle Corporation) and Bontrager—Trek, a top American bicycle brand globally, and Bontrager, Trek’s official accessories/apparel brand—are clearly marked on the chest and sleeves. Bontrager has long provided full equipment support for professional teams sponsored by Trek.
- Event Attribute Markers: The UCI World Tour and Mercedes-Benz logos on the shoulders align with the sponsorship system of the world’s top road cycling events, as Mercedes-Benz has long been the official sponsor and supporter of the UCI World Tour.
- Functional Features: Adopting professional cycling apparel performance fabric with moisture-wicking, breathable, and high-elasticity properties, paired with a full-length zipper, silicone hem gripper, and rear storage pockets, it meets both professional cycling needs and daily wear practicality.
2. Background Story & Design Origin
- Era Context: This design pays tribute primarily to the period 2011–2016, when Trek dominated the professional peloton—in 2011, the Leopard-Trek team was established, and in 2014, Trek officially acquired the team and renamed it Trek Factory Racing. During this phase, Trek, as America’s premier bicycle brand, held a significant position in the UCI World Tour. Meanwhile, American Express was a core sponsor of North American cycling events, long backing the Amgen Tour of California (held 2006–2019, upgraded to World Tour in 2017) and driving the internationalization of U.S. road cycling.
- Brand Legacy: Trek has been deeply involved in professional cycling since the 1990s, providing bikes and equipment for the U.S. Postal Service Pro Cycling Team (Lance Armstrong’s era). Acquired by Trek in 1995, Bontrager has been the exclusive component partner for all Trek-sponsored professional teams. Trek began phasing out the Bontrager brand in 2024, making this design a nostalgic nod to this classic equipment partner.
- Design Concept: This is a third-party “tribute design” that combines America’s top bicycle brands (Trek/Bontrager) with a leading U.S. corporate sponsor (American Express). It restores the visual aesthetic of the peak era of American professional cycling, rather than being an official kit of a real professional team.
3. Related Riders & Iconic Achievements (Honoring the Era)
- Fabian Cancellara (Trek Factory Racing, 2014–2016): Regarded as the greatest time trialist and classics specialist of his era, he won Paris–Roubaix four times, wore the Tour de France yellow jersey three times, and claimed the Tour de France time trial stage in 2015, becoming the iconic core rider of Trek during this period.
- Jens Voigt (Trek Factory Racing, 2014–2015): A fan-favorite “German tank,” he won six Tour de France stages and once held the hour record. In his final two seasons with Trek, he was a symbol of the team’s spirit with his consistent performance and racing ethos.
- Chris Horner (RadioShack-Leopard, Trek-sponsored, 2011–2013): At the age of 41, he won the 2013 Vuelta a España, becoming the oldest winner in Grand Tour history. Riding a Trek bike with Bontrager components, he etched a legendary chapter in his career.
- Andy Schleck & Frank Schleck (Leopard-Trek, 2011–2012): Legendary Luxembourgish brothers. Andy Schleck claimed the 2010 Tour de France yellow jersey, and together the brothers led the Trek-sponsored team to numerous outstanding results in the Grand Tours, forming the core of the team during its transition phase.

Fabric: The outer protective layer features a waterproof and windproof coating, crucial for resisting harsh weather conditions (cold wind, rain, snow). It effectively blocks cold wind penetration, preventing heat loss. The fabric surface undergoes a durable water-repellent treatment, forming an invisible protective film that easily handles light rain and road splashes; water droplets bead up and roll off, keeping you dry.
- The inner insulating layer innovatively combines high-quality merino wool, effectively locking in body heat even when wet. More importantly, the soft, skin-friendly feel, moisture-wicking properties, and natural antibacterial characteristics of wool ensure you stay dry, warm, and comfortable during long rides, eliminating the cold and sticky feeling common in winter cycling.
